Re: Central California Meet Up |
I'm going to be spending quite a bit of time in San Francisco over the next couple of months as I contemplate moving to the area full time. I have an opportunity to run a Sword/Tuna operation in Oakland. Hope to meet Rasta, Flow, Wineland and other Central California forumites while there. Think Cliff could be happy living in SF?

Re: Central California Meet Up |
As a long time resident, and regular visitor, YES. Am sure you'd be fine, and in fact, enjoy yourself immensely.
Of course, I base this entirely on your web personality; Telegraph Ave awaits, so do all of the fish joints on all sides of the Bay (primarily N, W, & E). And, don't forget the wine country, which I know you know already; Wineland can provide regular tours, I am sure...

Re: Central California Meet Up |
lord... another ISLANDER washin' up out here.... it would be a welcome sight!
i am really glad i caught wind of this.
hey HUCKER, if you are gonna serve up fish out here -- let me know! i grew up on the south shore, graduated HS in 91 fwiw. i have lived in oakland for 15 years.
trust me, there is room for more good pesce restaurants out here. there is plenty of sushi, but hardly any good "fresh catch" type east coast seafood shacks. ---- so many on the island. maybe the #1 thing i miss from back east. chowder, snapper, shrimp cocktail, clams on the half, flounder, lobster roll, sword, baked bass.
you will have a field day with dungeness crab.

Re: Central California Meet Up |
I think you would love the Bay Area Cliff. I grew up largely splitting my time between the eastern Connecticut shore (Madison to exact)and North Carolina. I know everyone has their idea of what is the best place to live and for me this is the good life. I can appreciate other places like Hawaii but always want to return home after a few days. Fishing is good also. It dawned on me after I posted that we could all meet up at UCSC's Dead museum once it officially opens. I think it will be soon if it hasn't already. Anyway the seed is planted lets see if it grows.

I think that's a great idea. We can meet upstairs at Catalyst for some pool and beers, head over to the museum, then back down to the Red Room, and over to SC Civic for a show (Primus/Fishbone on 6/23?).
Headstrung - where in NC? Curious since I'm an NC native.

Re: Central California Meet Up |
Now that sounds fun. They boarded up the Ave. after they failed to pay their taxes. No need to pay taxes in the Republic of Santa Cruz. Well I guess on second thought...

Re: Central California Meet Up |
That does sound like fun! I'm in Alameda county and have been hanging out in Santa Cruz almost every weekend since 2012 began. I'd love to meet up with y'all if you don't mind hanging with a quarter-century old young cub.
Just met this lovely gal on Saturday night that was telling me that there are 3 or 4 GD tribute bands in the Cruz. I would be up for that and/or def Primus - they put on one of the best live shows I've ever been to.
Let's make this happen!

Sorry bluedevil I forgot the second part. I lived in Lexington and went to High school in High Point.
